PLEASE! I cant stress enough that all you new people read this, and take this to heart. Live by it!
Please read as much as you can about your platform. These days, any car can be modified, and any car can be fast. The aftermarket is there for any car, no matter how unknown it is. Subscribe to any magazine you can, whether it be Import Tuner, Sport Compact Pro, Fast Fords, or whatever you can find. Please read and comprehend how the engine works, what makes it work better, and why. You also need to know what are its limits, what makes those limits exist, and how to raise the limits to achieve unparalleled efficiency. Modifying a car without basic knowledge is dangerous, and using power adders such as turbos and nitrous without understanding them fully IS FATAL to the motor. Better yet, changing brake or suspension setups could make your car perform worse, wear the tires more, and waste your money. Before installing a new part on your car, whether it is a cold air intake or cat back exhaust, please research it to the fullest. Know it inside and out. Know what companies make the parts, and whats the difference between each company. Know what will happen if you install the new part, why itll happen, and what to expect if anything goes wrong. Say you are installing a cold air intake. Q: Why are you installing it? A: To increase airflow and power Q: How does the CAI achieve that? A: Larger, smoother, and more direct piping which is located away from the heat of the engine bay. Q: What will happen when it is installed? A: Crisper, smoother throttle response, a slight change in the engine tone, a slightly leaner air to fuel ratio, and an overall slight increase in power. Q: What are some of the negative possibilities? A: If the intake is too close to the ground, you could drown your engine if it is completely submerged in water during flooded conditions. If it is not CARB certified, you might not pass emissions testing. Q: What companies make intakes for my car? A: Some of the most reputable and well known companies are AEM, Injen, Weapon-R, K&N, Skunk2, etc. Q: Which is best for my car? A: Depends on your platform, which you should have read up on by now, and known. -- These are the questions you should be asking yourself everytime you are buying a part. Remember, its your money, your car, and your life. You dont want to waste any of those on buying something without the proper knowledge and precautions. PLEASE READ UP ON YOUR PLATFORM AND UNDERSTAND IT TO THE FULLEST OF YOUR CAPABILITIES. Then you wont be asking "What should I do" but rather "Im thinking about going with AEM, but what have your experiences been with other companies?" Please, I read about my car, and several others, but i dont know everything. I highly doubt anyone does. We can all join and collaborate, but it is your duty to know as much about your car as you can before investing in it. |

^^+1 but don't forget to plan long term either.
1. What direction do you want to go with your car: Track, street, show, go. 2. What are you going to do with the engine Supercharged, Turbo, all motor: dont go out and buy 12:1 pistions and decide you want to go turbo 3.How much do you really want to sink into this project: if you only have 500 bucks better to spend it on a few quality parts rather than lots of cheap parts
