Default Cop Car Specs ?

who knows what the specs are on modern cop cars (not highway patrol ) like top speed and handling .(we'll say the impalas they most often use) i know they have V rated tires and most have two alternators on account of all the electronics they carry and they are heavy as hell. no i don't plan on running from the cops just always been curious.

hmmm.... out here, we have Ford Crown Vics, and they are completely stock under the hood with the exception of the second alternator.

now, the California Highway Patrol has about 10 Crown Vics that are centrifugally supercharged, the rest are bone stock.

the s/c'ed ones are in Sac and LA County

there was a recent road and track or motor trend or one of those that did a cop car feature. most of them are pretty sluggish all around compared to a real sports car. but than again, are high speed pursuits even allowed most places anymore? i know they definitely arent in major cities.

most cop cars are factory tuned... can't go over 120mph. They don't even try, because they don't have to. They put the stop sticks out or chase you with a helicopter.

theres no helos in montana, but the highway patrol here have dodge chargers and magnums and a few 5.0 mustangs, i don't think they would have a problem catching people. montana is wide open and not alot of cops so they cant rely on backup here. the only way i would ever even think about trying to run is if i could find a way to jam their radio frequency, that way there would be no backup at all, even if they did pull you over they couldn't get a hold of dispatch to check your backround.

but i have only 1 speeding ticket, why risk a felony charge when you could just get a slap on the wrist?the #1 way people run from the cops here is on a dirtbike or go off roading, but the cops just got a ford expedition to deal with them.

there are dodge hemi powered chargers in OK. they're slow. they have magnums too. slow
the 5.0 i'm definitely not worried about. CA on the other hand... they bring out the C6 Z06 on you... it'll catch you in the straights, but once you start turning it's game over for it.

point is: don't run from the cops. if you do, you're stupid. they may have been trying to just give you a warning and now your ass is going to jail.

legally they're not allowed to drive anything imported. domestic cars only. the only way they can have that Porsche is because it was seized in a drug raid or something like that. They're used as drug enforcement cars and other special units.

oh by the way...

Porsche Cayman S

Engine: 3.4 L H-6, 295hp, 255 lb-ft
Drive: Rear-wheel
0-60 mph: 5.1 sec (est.)
0-100 mph: 12.0 sec (est.)
1/4-mile: 13.7 sec @ 105 mph (est.)
Top speed: 171 mph

They're pretty nimble in the turns, but not too quick for anything mildly tuned. It'll hang with you though and catch up in the top end

the only time ever saw a Lamborghini cruiser was in Munich. doubt they have one in Vegas, unless it was taken in on a sting of some sort, which isnt all to unfeasable....
