Exhast "CAN'S" and no guts!

well..i posted this as a responce to another thread..but i wanted to start this topic up to get some other point of vews on it.....

I raced a brand new 300Z tonight...he reved his engine up laughing at my old pile of crap becouse i have a seat and harness in it...we pulled up to a red light and i strapped my self in..took a drink of soda..and made shure the extra 400 lbs i had rolling around in the back from moving was secure....the light turned green and off "I" went!...i could hear his ass can screeming and then fading in the background....if i were a world war 2 fighter pilot i would put a sticker on the side of my car that looked like his...it was all pipes...no balls...ive ran into a few of these types of guys..and this guy was in his 40's..easly...racing a can...now i dont mind a car modder...roamin around inbetween mods with the exhaust done...but racing a can..i doubt a real moder would do that..whats your thoughts all?

whats a 300z? you mean 300zx? those arent new, or do you mean a 350z?

why do people put a 4 or 5 inch muffler on a 2 inch exaust pipe anyway ?????

it was a brand new off of the lot lookin 300zx man...but hay..my ride is 17 years old..everything is new to me:P...im still laughing about it...lol..he was probly like...wtf..did this guy have....lol..and im stock..haha

I'm not going to down the cans to much.. I mean if you just want that sound then thats cool.. but you want to go fast i guess for a lot of people the forget about the rest of the exhaust system.. high flow catt's headers and all that... I dun know.. Back years ago when i had a nice little Honda... i had a as can and no other major mods... and i was a dick with it... but thats all i was doing was just being a dick... trying to see if i could get other cars to punch it or something... I dun know whats wrong with people these days

well if he was moding the rest of his ride..then hay..but to be honest...my car looks like crap and most cars pull up at a light and think..my new car can waste this junker...only to be left lacking at the light...sleepers..for the win!

this car?

they stopped making them in 96 and it could have been n/t which is a major slug

well thats all well and good but how much more per formance can you get from modding the exhaust? and if there is a performance diff. you should mod from the headers back right?

you "can" some times get a rather big difference. But starting out you might not notice it as much.. i would recommend headers back if you where in it for the long haul. But think about it as setting up your engine for other parts.. If you have the back end set when you start working front and middle you don't have think about flow anymore.

I THINK IT WILL STILL SOUND LIKE WHAT YOU GUYS ARE TALKING ABOUT.
I'M PROBABLY WRONG BUT I'M JUST SPEAKING MY OPINION.
I THINK EVEN IF I DID GET ONE AND THE SOUND IS THE SAME AS A RICE I'LL STILL GET MOCKED WON'T I?

Maybe a little but a lot of it depends on how you drive... if your just driving around enjoying the way your car sounds you shouldn't catch to much flack.. but if you roll up to cobras or SS's and try to do something... yeah you will... Which reminds me. One of the guys in the back body shop at the dealer has a older Cobra.. and he can't live with out reving and romping that thing.. almost got into three wrecks the other night and sat behind me at the light for like 5 min reving every few sec...

i saw a dyno sheet on a focus svt, they swapped out the stock muffler and header for a performance muffler and header and got a whopping 3 hp, no offense but exhaust mods on 4 cylinder N/A cars make no sense, only annoying noise, now if the car has a supercharger , turbo or nitrous then exhaust mods make sense

yeah I can see that... Most N/A cars don't get huge bonus's from exhaust alone... but its a set up mod...
