Question Turbo on 170k engine?

I have 97 Prelude SH w/170k miles on it. Is it safe to install a small turbo?

If the engine is well mantained and you would have to define Small? I would recommend Main and rod bearings. But also don't forget to up your fuel with something like larger injectors. As long as you only to small amounts of boost maybe 5lbs or less i think you should be ok

yea 5lbs with maybe a small t3/t4 would be good, no harm there. but i would recomend a rebuild.

Best diagnostics would be leak-down to the head and cylinder compression check. But with that many miles, like already mentioned, main bearings and rod bearings would be smart too! also, arp head studs would help an old and worn out head gasket from blowing out. or replace the head gasket (stock is fine) as long as you have arp head studs. they do not stretch like factory head studs. But also as others have said, no more than 5 psi or so. Just to be safe Good luck

ya i would suggest rebuild also.. and get rid of that pesky ATTS.. that will limit the power u make.. that ATTS system cant take more than 300 HP.. so either unplug it and carry around 50 lbs of dead weight or just take it out completly..
