Red face need some info

well basically since ALL of my dam friends have "muscle cars"(mustangs and camaros), i kinda need some help/info about boosted imports. Im about to get my first REAL car, and my goal is a good base for around 5 grand, then around a 13 sec/300ish HP at around 10 grand. I have 3 choices, SR20DET 240, turbo integra ls(maybe ls/vtec), or a 94-98 mustang gt. These 3 cars are exactly what im looking for base wise, im considering the stang cuz my friends dad works at the ford dealer ship, and he can get me some decent deals, then i would slowly make it a N/A full bolt on. And i want the 240 more than the integra, but im kinda scared about ordering a boosted-stock engine that came from a wrecked 180sx/silvia, and that im gonna spend alot of money just to get it running good instead of making it faster. I need to know what bolt ons/ little more boost does powerwise for turbo cars.

a turbo car will respond much better to mods imo and will go faster for cheaper

i dont know, it would be a decent gain though, fyi you dont put a header on a turbo car. you also have to consider fuel upgrades, i dont know the capability of the stock fuel system in an sr20det so you would have to look into that. but for example, my car ran 11psi stock, i could turn it up to about 14 on the stock fuel system. with a high flow fuel pump you can squeeze about 16 out of it. hop on a 240sx forum and find an upgrade path for the sr20det, that will tell you all you need to know, search around on http://www.zilvia.net/f/index.php

K thanks alot man, i know ive asked about this 1000 times before but its hard to like a car that youve never seen in person, but i really am leaning toward the 240 just to whoop my friends asses and shove it in their faces. I dont care if they like imports/ 4 cylinders, but they need to atleast respect them. And by headers i meant turbo manifold, but im just so used to putting I/H/E and they kinda look like headers so yea... im a dumass whatever lol. And i already talked to the guys at the local shop about dyno time and everything, now the only thing im scared of is ordering the SR and it being in bad condition.

What about getting a 90-94 Eclipse or Talon Turbo AWD?

No need for a swap... stock motor can handle 400whp... AWD lets you cut 1.6 60 foots on the street... and you can probably find one for $2000 in good shape.

well on the old prostreet that was my last post about a 1 gen AWD dsm or
SR 240, and i did a little looking around and found a few but they were all in pretty bad shape. I might consider that though and try to look around again.

Unhappy

well as i was saying in the last post, i was previoulsy 100% set on getting(Wanting) a 1 gen AWD dsm, but there was VERY few around here, and they were all in pretttyyy bad condition. Anyways ive been doing some searching again and i can find about 20 of them for 5000 and under which is my limit but most if not ALL of them are in Cali and im in Texas. Im trying to thing of something that i could work out with the seller, possibly paying them a little more than they request and trying to meet half way or something???? but that seems reall unrealistic to me.

yo sagvr4, can you tell me your engine mods and give me an estimate of how much power you are putting out?? Im trying to get a realistic idea of what kind of power i would have with mild mods if i get an AWD 1rst gen talon or eclipse.

lets see..... main performance mods are:
front mount intercooler w/ 2.5'' piping all the way
650cc injectors
safc
255 lph fuel pump
AFPR
intake
2g mas
keydiver chip
3'' turbo back exhaust
2600 clutch w/ lightened flywheel

theres a bunch of other stuff too, ill type it all up on my page but those are the main things that i can think of right now. i am hoping to dyno tune it very soon, this weekend or the next. realistically i am hoping for at least 250awhp uncorrected. ill let you know when i get numbers, keep in mind i am on the stock 14b turbo with stock manifold, no porting or anything

yea thats true, well thanks alot for the info, if you do get a chance to dyno it just post up the numbers. My uncle thats had alot of FWD cars and only like a camaro for RWD is REALLY trying to convince me to stay away from FWD, and i kinda want to also. So its between i gen AWD talon/eclipse,240sx, or mustang.
