ive only been to about 10 events total both road race ( open-track) and auto-x, and id have to say I prefer road racing, less waiting, more action and a larger area to "play" my .02 though

I don't like autocross, personally. Tears your tires up pretty bad, and doesn't last very long.

I love the larger tracks..... just took my tC out on Thunderhill raceway in Willows, California and had a BALL.... nothing like running around a hilly track at 100+MPH....

yea i personally like road racing more than auto-x but for distance reasons i am going to start auto-x next summer here in millwaukee at the brewers stadium, im going to be running with one of my buddies from high school he drives a miata. and once i get driving in auto-x im going to get my race license and hopefully do some nice road racing in more than just lap days. but all in do time though.

It's cool to do some autocrosses since you will hone on your reflexes due to the track size. It'll help when you start roadracing. If you are going to start doing actual racing, it can get really exspensive to build a dedicated track car. Biggest thing is to have a rulebook so you build your car within the guidelines of your class.

i love auto x. but ill have a problem tryin not to hit the cones. i always want to hit the car on the side of the road just to see what happens. but i haven't. ill be racing in it all next season (depending on how my car is) and see where i go from there.

Autox is fun, but doesn't hold a candle to open track days.
