Default Looking for Cold intake

I have a 2002 Cavalier 2.2L Ecotec and want to put a cold air intake on it for some extra power. Any suggestions?

Get a different car. Seriously.

But if you dont want to do that. Get a reflashed PCM for about $100, get a cold air intake filter and put it on the stock pipe, and do an exhaust.

You cant just strap a bottle of nos into a stock cavi motor. You will put the pistons right through the block.

You cant even do a small amount in a 4 cylinder car. The project that saturn was working on took over 8 years because every time they tried to run the sl2 on nos it put pistons through the block. You can put some small fogger systems on some V6's, but thats not even recommended without building the block up.

I knew some one that had a Hyundai with a 50 shot of spray on a 4 with no other mods and he didn't have any problems with it. He totaled the car before having any engine trouble. If you know what your doing you shouldn't have problems...

umm. go with a cold air intake alright... any brand i preffer a k&n but whatever. get a cold air. and then when the cold air comes thought the fende. get a filter and cut the cold air in that area so take a piece out you got the fender ] the intake------ and the filter {} ok
]--{}--------()<engine got so when you cut that piece out of your intake by the fender you install the filter so from your engine you have piping that goes to a filter by the fender and then from the filter by the fender the piping continues on to the cold air filter so then you have a cold air and short air intake...

Those arent as fast as they look. They are pretty slow. They dont even stand a chance against my car and its not even supercharged yet.

Whoa that's pretty insane onzx2mike wish i had a cold air now. But CEDevils if you want a a good short ram and you got the money go with the Weapon R Secret Weapon intake it runs about $180. But Ebay runs wonders on cold air intakes you can get them for about $20-$80. Oh and trust me they work good. You may just want to buy a different filter though. Paper filters kinda suck though they don't block as much dirt as foam filters but they still do the job, you get filters at local auto stores for like $10 to $20. Plus you can do what onzx2mike's suggestion for pretty cheap running about $100 or less with Ebay.

Dont spend the money on a complete intake setup. Just buy the filter and put it on the stock tubing. Why would you put a metal tube on a filter when its called a cold air intake. The rubber stock tubing attracts less heat than a tube from a cold air intake thus making more power by just replacing the intake filter.

my son had a 04 cavalier 5 sp. all stock except the cai and a zex 50 dry shot., nothing more and he pulled at the track 14.4 on street tires. now this engine had proably 30 hard bottles ran thru it before he lost a compression ring on # 4 cyl. and thats 30 bottles without a nitrous tune done. if the 2.2 4 cyl engines are a peice of crap engine there are alot of them running around with alot mods on them and doing fine. if you do decide to go nitrous make sure you put the nozzle in front of the maf sensor, unless you go with a wet kit. don't be afraid of doing mods on it.they are very good engines that gm say's will hold up 1000 hp on the block and the rods are good for 500hp. even the plastic intake is good for 500 hp. just do some reading on the engine and you will see. i even modded my 04 gto after 70000 miles and i am not afraid of doing it...
