Default Crankshaft Sensor on a 2001 BMW 525i

Greetings everyone. Does anyone know the location of the Crankshaft Sensor on a 2001 BMW 525i? Is this a simple remove and replace or is there a resetting of a computer involved?
Thanks...Greg

You might want to look around the timing belt/chain area. Usually it's right around the crankshaft. I know NovaSS on here has alldata and he can look it up for you, hopefully he sees this thread

Thanks. I located the sensor, however, it is mounted on the right side of the block back towards the flywheel. Now, can someone tell me how to reset the "service engine soon" light without going to the dealer? The OBD plug is located inside the driver compartment by the drivers left knee.

there's a tool they sell where you can reset it yourself.

You can find them on www.bavauto.com

Appreciate the feedback. I actually went to Autozone as they have the code reader, which I used free of charge to diagnose the problem, and they reset the light.
