i got all the consoles over the shifter off but i wasnt sure what to do with the second rubber boot it seem simple at first until i got to the point of where i am.
I have a 89 Civic Si Hatch and any help would be much appreciated |

you have to get under the car, undo the sihfter assembly from where it leads out from your shifter box, and then undo the lower arm connecting the far end of your shifter, take care of the boot to not rip or tear into any of it, and once you are done swapping shifters, put the entire assembly back and use lube ( should be supplied ) to help ease everything back into place. Yes, always be careful not to tear anything when you insert it and always use lube to help ease things into place.
Sorry I could not resist. It goes without saying that before you put the console back on that you shift through the gears and take it for a test drive so you don’t need to take it apart again to adjust it.

but what type of lube should i use for the shifter any certain or prefered brands? and mayn this sound harder than i thought since i have a lowered car and no lift but thanks for all the help

no, just get some good lithium grease and you'll be a-ok.
