Default Alternater

How To: Remove Alternator (PICS!)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THIS IS FOR ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT

(1)FIRST REMOVE THE POSTIVE CABLE FROM THE BATTERY. THEN GET SOMETHING TO DRAIN OIL INTO.

(2)YOU NEED TO REMOVE YOUR OIL FILTER. SOME PEOPLE SAID YOU DONT HAVE TO, BUT IT IS A HELL OF A LOT EASIER IF YOU DO!

(3)THEN THERE IS A BRACKET BRACING THE AXLE THAT NEEDS TO BE MOVED.

THERE ARE THREE BOLTS HOLDING THE BRACE IN PLACE. TWO VISIBLE AND ONE RIGHT ABOVE THE AXLE. THE THIRD ONE YOU JUST HAVE TO FEEL FOR IT

[THE THREE BOLTS VISIBLE TO THE LOWER LEFT OF THE OIL FILTER ARE THE ONES THAT HAVE TO BE REMOVED TO MOVE THE BRACE]

(4) NEXT REMOVE THE TWO BOLTS SECURING THE ALTERNATOR IN PLACE. ONE FROM THE TOP AND ONE FROM THE BOTTOM. ONCE REMOVED SPIN THE ALT TOWARDS YOU WHILE UNDER THE CAR AND REMOVE THE GREEN CLIP AND THE OTHER WIRE WHICH IS HELD ON BY A SMALL NUT.

(5) TWIST THE ALT SO THAT THE BELT WHEEL IS FACING YOU AND THE BIG MOUNTING EAR IS TOWARDS THE DRIVER'S SIDE.

(6)THE ALT SHOULD SLIP OUT WITL A LITTLE MANIPULATION AND PERSUASION. THERE IS A BLACK HEAT SHIELD THAT GETS IN THE WAY A LITTLE BIT BUT IS EASLY BENT OUT OF THE WAY.
