lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way!

my check engine light has been coming on lately and i thought that the oxygen sensors were going bad because the code was 0174 and 0173 or "left and right bank too lean". However, i've come to notice that the check engine light only comes on when i drive at high rpm's when the temp is 15f or colder. I've modified the air intake quite extensively and i wonder if the fuel system is unable to meet the demand of so much freezing air coming in the engine.
How can i upgrade my fuel pump? it is inside the fuel tank. is there a way i can change the pump pressure on the stock fuel pump or do I need a new pump all together? I'm getting tired of using my code reader to shut the light off please help! or is it something else? |

you could try an adjustable pressure regulator. and to answer your ? bout the pump its gonna be in tank. check w/ walbro to see if they make an high psi pump 4 the car

it would have to be a universal pump, aftermarket support for my car is virtualy non-exsistant.
and a pressure regulator, almost forgot about those. i don't know if my car has one or where its at if it does, i've looked for it before. thats why i think its the fuel pump itself that needs to be adjusted if possible. also, doesn't changing the fuel pressure confuse the ECU? or does it "learn" the new fuel curve being factory an all? |

your FPR should be on the fule rail if in not mistaken. stock it is non adjustable though. as far as tunning issues. as long as you dont go crazy w/ the pressure you should be alright. i ran an adjustble FRP one an Accord and on my car for a while too. the LTFT adjusted itself out for the new fuel mixture. but thats notta ford 3.0
