Does anybody have any mod experience with this motor? I have a 2002 Accord and am looking to beef up under the hood. I'm not doing a turbo or supercharger (yet?). Any suggestions?

Yeah, i'd look at first mod being an intake, then headers, high flow cats (or test pipes), and a catback. After that, there are really not many more mods that will give you much power besides forced induction of some sort. check the pro street store for what's available

well he can get more power, but its more work and isnt good to be preformed by someone who knows nothing about there engine, such as cams, valve springs, valves, also he could do new pullies, and sorts like that

I actually know quite a bit about motors...Just getting your inputs from your experiences. I just bought a Weapon R Dragon after days of research. I was really looking for something that brought up my lower RPM range at first and as I go, I'll be focusing more on the higher RPM's. Have any of you seen or heard of the J30A1 having a performance upgrade? If so, how did it turn out? I'm eventually going to upgrade the injectors, exhaust, fuel system, etc.

nitrous = cheap and easy way to go faster. fuel and timing control is needed, but nitrous can be very rewarding for what you want to do. Check it out

im not a fan of nos, ive seen its destruction...not pretty,um i got the weapon-r dragon on my car, it is a pretty good intake but um if you wantahuge power gain then research turbo, i mean think....nos can be risky, but if done right yea it can be cool but are you wanting to spend money getting the bottle refilled everytime,it does cost $$ to fill,i would just do a good turbo build,or just stay away from that stuff and hit up new internals and things like that

Yeah, I'm more inline with you EssenceFracture. I'm thinking of the upgrades you mention and MAYBE eventually getting the turbo. I'm stock 200hp (so they say) and if I can get up to 300 without the turbo I would be really happy. I prefer the torque over hp though, always have and why I bought the Dragon intake. Do you all think I can make it to 300hp? Also, I'll get pics on here soon. Just bought the car so it's still bones except for the rims/tires.

ok so you got ur dragon intake....now hit up some dcsport headers, test pipe and exhaust try the apexi ws or greddy sp exhausts. after that its more internal work, if you can try for skunk2 stage 2 cams, and skunk2 cam gears, everwhere i read i read good reviews from skunk2 stage 2 cams,um with some work and care that car could see 300 hp, and everyone is here to help you so dont be afraid to ask if you run into trouble

Sweet! I've actually been thinking the same things. The Skunk2 cams and gears and the GReddy exhaust. Will still upgrade the injectors and fuel rail, the headers, pulleys, etc. Living in sactown, it gets very hot in the summer too so I want to do a radiator upgrade as well. ICE will come last unless I can find a good deal on a nav/dvd. I will definitely keep you all posted. Thanks for the advises! I'm gonna check our your pages to get some ideas.

I put the intake on....one word. BADASS! Love it. Considerable improvement in throttle response and get-up. Very nice low rumbling sound. Will post with my next mod. Pics coming soon!!!! |

id suggest some underdrive pulleys too, go w/ a vtec controller. skunk2 cams are a deff. and just a hint when you race, drive the car like a maual car and shift the gears right before redline. that brings those cars too life.
