Default What is a boost gauge?

A boost gauge is a pressure gauge that measures pressure in your intake manifold. Its one of the first mods we recommend to any turbo car owner. A boost gauge will allow you to read how much pressure / airflow your turbo is actually generating. Naturally aspirated vehicles only have vacumn as the engine tries to draw in air and this gauge isnt needed for it. Turbo or Supercharged vehicles that create 'boost' have a great need for this gauge as it provides information to what your power adder is actually doing.

Without this information, you dont know how much air is really being pushed into your car. Some applications use a stock boost gauge built into the vehicles options. Make sure this gauge actually reads pressure from your manifold instead of calculated values from the air meter.

The boost gauge is the first mod you need for your turbo car before you begin to modify it. If there is something wrong with your turbo setup or something isnt working correctly, it can push more air into your engine than it can handle. Which is some extreme cases, can result in excessive combustion temperatures and resulting engine damage.
