no there not the same company. neither are they the same technology. they are both swedish but neither one owns each other. saab is starting to use variable geometry turbo's. from what i was told in disel mechanics class. that means the turbo turbine wheel move in and out when the turbo is needed. another words imagine the turbine spool able to move horizontally left to right or in and out. away from the exhaust when not needed and back in when needed. Thats what i was told at least. i am not sure if this is the same thing. its supposed to be very efficent more so than a regulare turbo. A lot of the trucks that have the catipiler engines have these turbos.
