Default Question

I have the 4.3 liter V6 in my S-10. I was looking to put some kind of turbo set up on it.. But i noticed none are made for it. I was wondering how i would go about getting a turbo and manifold and all that.. I'm not going to do it until I get my 350 and then i'm putting the v6 on a stand and completely redoing it.

But is there some way i can make/find something to run a turbo on my 4.3?

yep anything is possible with enough money and custom fabrcation. im not familiar with your engine at all but if no kits are available then you would have to get one custom made at a shop, wouldnt be hard for them to do, and the turbo itself is fairly universal depending on the flanges so as long as there is room in the engine bay you could very well turbo it. theres a lot more to a turbo setup then just the turbo though, a lot more, make sure you research up

Don't you have the same 4.3L V6 as in the Syclones and Typhoons?

If so, you have your turbo setup right there... just get a kit or a stock setup off one of those motors.

Ta-da! Instant turbo

The thing the turbo hooks up to is the intake manifold right?

also keep in mind that turbo motors almost always have a lower compression ratio than their non-turbo counterparts. to really do it right, you'd want to do a full rebuild and use lower compression pistons. it's not required, but if you keep the internals stock, you won't be able to boost as high.

the basic parts you'll need:
turbo
turbo (exhaust) manifold from the heads to the turbine side of the turbo
downpipe from turbine side to the exhaust
intake pipe to the compressor side of the turbo
hotpipe from the compressor side to the intercooler
intercooler
coldpipe from the intercooler to the throttle body
water and oil lines to the turbo
new or retuned ecu
boost gauge
maybe bigger injectors
probably some brackets and other stuff

pierce ur from florida thats cool same here, so since im going to do a turbocharger on my engine, a place to get the best help in my opinion is C.F.T(Central Florida Turbo's) they have a website dont remember what it was but they can help you to every last detail doing a custom turbo for you.look them up and also if you need a good tuning afterwards they will do it,there in the orlando area if your in that area ask around for them.

i drive a 89 s10 blazer int the winter here. its got the 4.3 v6 in it. b4 i bought my z28 i looked into truboing the engine in it. like beak said there is a factory turbo version of our engines in the typhoons and syclones. they are very rare adn absolutley hard to find. there is a company in N.C that makes a 4.3 typhoon replica kit. i found them a few years back by searching yahoo and google. the kits ran for 5-6 grand for parts but it didnt included the parts needed to rebiuld and forge the engine. happy hunting

Run a twin turbo setup on it with some t25 Garrett turbo's.
Other inspiration would be from the Nissan 350's that have turbo's and are rear drive as well as some of the Acura NSX twin turbo setups.

You'll have to do some research on these and can get quite abit of knowledge from seeing other V6 engines with turbo's.

Custom fabrication is the word for you and relying on GM to help you with this is pretty much a dead issue.

How bad do you want it?
If you want something bad enough, you'll research it out and find a means to do it.

This is what I'm doing right now, researching information for my turbo setup.
It's going to be custom made, with components picked by me and not a kit form.

Good luck with it and again, research the information you need. It's all there in front of you.
