The 2000-2005 Chevy Impala uses the standard double DIN sized stereo. Like many Chevy or GM vehicles, this factory radio can also be found in vehicles like the Monte Carlo. When you are upgrading your Impala stereo, you’ll need to remove the center console and brackets.

2006-2013 Ninth gen Impala stereo wiring Guide
Much like the later model GM vehicles and trucks, the ninth gen Impala stereo often combines the factory climate control. Because of this reason, you’ll need an install kit to bypass the factory back up camera or navigation if so equipped. Hi.I am trying to install my aftermarket pioneer radio on my 2009 Impala and there is another light blue wire(below the orange black-line wire). Is that a 12 volt batt/memory? If it is, is it supposed to have power when the key is on because Impala is not given power to it. Do you have a solution for it?

The Impala stereo wire you are talking about is most likely the remote amp / switched power wire. If you need this wire to be powered with the ignition on, I would recommend tapping into the ignition switch in your steering column.

I’m curious about my 04 impala ls. Want to hardwire a double din pioneer into it and retain factory amp just want to be sure they’ve all got the same wiring color codes no matter the radio unit that came factory in them. It does have a upgraded factory system with built in amp that isn’t bose. Just want to be sire it’ll all work when I’m done.

The best way to upgrade your Impala radio, is using a wiring loom that easily plugs into your harness and doesn’t modify your existing wiring. Hi i have a 2003 impala wanting to install an after market 7in 2 din radio. My first question is you explain that the yellow wire is a 12v switched right… but isn’t it suppose to be thin orange, cause the only yellow is for left rear negative speaker.. second question on the stoke radio what is the wire harnest that has the green/white wire and bkack/white wire use for, do we connect those to the after market radio. Wanna make sure I don’t mess up on it.

Hi Chris, splicing into the front wires is not recommended as it will draw power from your front speakers and might not be the end result you wanted. Instead take a look at tweeter drivers, which can be added on without voiding your warranty or splicing into wires.

Hi Sergio, yes for the most part all wiring diagrams for the Impala are the same outside of the amplifier wiring for additional trims of the LS, LT and LTZ that include the Bose or Monsoon options.

Hi Mark, that orange wire should be an optional switched power. Can you measure the voltage at this wire with the key at the ON Position?

Do you have access to a multimeter? Have you tested for power and ground? Is your Impala stereo turning on at all?
Why am I getting power in all my rear speaker wires? The wire colors don’t match your diagram, but look to be in the original factory harness. Have not pulled the head unit to see if there has been anything rewired there. It is the origal factory stereo though.
