Whether you are looking into upgrading your stereo or your speakers in your Lancer, this Mitsubishi Lancer stereo wiring diagram is all you need. Upgrading your Mitsubishi Lancer stereo has never been so easy. Simply find the year of your Lancer and match up the wires that you are having difficulty with. This guide is here to help you wire up your Lancer speakers or complete the Lancer radio install.

Today I’ll be showing you how to wire up anything in your Mitsubishi Lancer stereo. We’ll be covering all the years from 2000 onward, and showing you what wire does what. Because the early model Lancers on this page share quite a bit with the early Evolution VIII, you may notice quite a few similarities.

One of the biggest similarities is the layout of the single DIN system above the Lancer climate controls. Although it’s not impossible to install a double DIN stereo, you may need an install kit to either relocate your climate control knobs or to make more room.

In the earlier models the configuration of your Lancer stereo does limit your upgrade options a bit. However  you won’t need to undo or remove your center console to access your Lancer radio. Instead simply pull off the climate control knobs and you can lift up on the entire panel.

Once you’ve got the old Lancer stereo removed, you can begin wiring up the power and ground signals to your new radio. Complete the install by simply securing your new Lancer stereo to the dashboard. You will not need an install kit for most single DIN radio.

The next generation of Lancer changed quite a bit with the dashboard and stereo. These changes make Lancer stereo upgrades a little more difficult, but the wiring remains fairly simple. In order to upgrade your Lancer stereo, you’ll need to remove the front fascia as the previous generation.

Because this year range of Mitsubishi Lancer first incorporated steering wheel controls, you may need an adapter kit to make these controls work again. This of course depends on your Lancer stereo of choice, and what kind you’ll be installing moving forward. Either way, most of the aftermarket Lancer stereo install jobs will require a new mounting kit.

The Lancer trigger wire for your stereo is a pink one, although some aftermarket installers prefer the switched ignition from your Mitsubishi steering column.

For those people who happen to own the 2010+ Lancer, we’ll cover the navigation units as well as the non-navigation systems below.

The new changes from 2010 onward included an excellent navigation system upgrade. These changes extended to the power antenna wire, which much like the previous model is still a pink wire. However the difference between the 2010 – 2015 and the pre-2010 models is that the remote antenna is not required unless you have a roof antenna in place.

The speakers for the Lancer up front are located in the door panels, unless you are also looking for the tweeter location. You can find the rear Lancer speaker mounted in the rear quarter panel of the back seats.

    • Hi Luis, so you used our Mitsubishi Lancer stereo wiring diagram to install your Lancer stereo, but the plug on your amp doesn’t fit am I right? You will need a conversion plug to make this work right.

  2. I have a 2007 Lancer, although it does have the MMCS.
I have just replaced the MMCS with an aftermarket head unit. I am trying to work out which wires are the reversing camera wires. The new head unit has a yellow RCA plug but the wiring loom has a specialty plug for the MMCS. Are you able to tell me which wires and which plug controls the reversing camera. Thanks in advance.

    • Hi Euan, for your backup camera you’ll need the yellow RCA video cable, and a converter for your Mitsubishi plug. You put a navigation system into your Mitsubishi Lancer? Hope our Lancer wiring guide helped out!

  3. So I have a 2015 lancer gt and I’m booking up a mint out converter do I just use the 12v yellow accessory switch wire for my remote wire to my amp?

    • Hi Mike, sorry a mint out controller? Could you be more specific? let us know and we can help. Thanks for commenting on our Mitsubishi Lancer stereo wiring guide

  4. need help installing 2016 stereo into a 2011 lancer stereo plugs straight but lights won’t work car won’t idle

    • Hi Sharyn, thanks for reading.

I would not recommend simply plugging the Lancer stereo in from a later model. Although the Mitsubishi stereo plug may look similar, there’s no way that the stereo wiring is the same. Instead take a look at installing a stereo harness or at least a plug and play harness that will get the job done.

  5. Which wire on a 2008 vrx lancer on the stereo is for the steering wheel buttons as I have connected a after market stereo.

    • Hi ABZ, thanks for reading my Lancer stereo wiring guide.

Have you cut the harness or is the steering wheel loom / plug still intact? if so you are best served by using a plug and play wiring loom to reconnect your Mitsubishi steering wheel controls. Hope that helps!

  6. Hi, i got 2009 lancer. After I installed plug and play after market android stereo, all lights on my cluster illuminated and my tacho inop

  7. I’m wiring in a headunit and a subwoofer/ amp what color should I connect my remote power for my amp to

  8. Can anyone give me a full breakdown of each wire behind the head unit of an 08 lancer gts when I purchased the car it came without a head unit and when I went to install one I then realized someone literally cut the last radon and harness out so all the wires are cut down to almost nothing and I have nothing but a Sony aftermarket head unit to install in it but have no idea what wires go to what… apparently some of these wires go to the dash because when I tried to hook it up the first time my dash was going crazy while I was driving flashing every code and doors open and my speedometer and other gauges would either jump all around or not work at all. There was also a stock amp at one point I assume that is no longer in the car either! Thanks in advance for any and all help!

    • Whoa.. that sounds like a mess Chris. Can you post a pic of your stereo wiring loom? Sounds like you need a whole new chassis wiring harness to be honest

  9. Hi,

I have a 2011 Lnacer and have hooked up a new Pioneer headunit with steering wheel controls but the old car owners cut the plug from the car. I hooked up the powers, ground and speaker wires. I had 2 wires I couldn’t connect a solid blue one and a green one which went to an Aerpro CHMB2C. The green one went to the Connect 2 steering wheel one and I think that is why it doesn’t work. Do you know the colour on the wiring loom that goes to or can you help me.
