The days of paying through the nose to get the performance you want may be coming to an end. Muscle cars and high maintenance super cars can cost you an arm and a leg. That’s why you can pick up over 325 horsepower and more than 380 ft lbs of torque.. from the 2017 Ford Fusion Sport.

We covered the changes to the new Fusion, or more notably the upgrade to the 2.7 liter Ecoboost engine. What we get is the all new Ford sedan, with an impressive near 400 ft lbs of torque on 93 octane. If that wasn’t impressive enough, consider the new Ford Fusion sport puts down more power than the BMW 340i, Hyundai Sonata and Kia Optima and it definitely leaves the new Toyota Camry behind in the dust.

Did we mention that the Ford Fusion sport is also all wheel drive and paired to Ford’s six speed automatic transmission? The combination of power, looks and build quality should put a serious dent into the full sized sedan market.

But it’s not all that the Ford Fusion sport has to offer. Starting at just $34,350, it’s easily the most affordable luxury sedan in it’s class. In fact if you were to take the same amount of cash and buy a BMW, you’d be stuck with the base 320i, which is a naturally aspirated 180 horsepower model.

The all new Ford Fusion sport also gets more than it’s fair share of options and gadgets. When you start to add options like navigation, adaptive cruise control, vented seats, and 19-inch wheels, the price tag is still under $40,000 dollars.

So by all accounts the Ford Fusion sport could make a serious impact on BMW, Toyota and Hyundai, but maybe Ford as well. After all when you can pick up this much power from a Ford Fusion sport that costs you less than $34,000, why would you want a Lincoln MKZ for almost $45,000?

The all new 2017 Ford Fusion sport will also see an improvement in gas mileage over the previous models, despite the increase in power. The success of the Fusion may depend largely on the excellence of Ford’s Ecoboost engine, which bodes well for the Detroit auto maker.
