‘Fast 8’ Filming Shuts Down Downtown Cleveland

Fast and Furious returns to the big screen as filming in downtown Cleveland closes several streets. Several scenes in the newest installment in the Fast and Furious franchise, Fast 8 take place in northeast Ohio.

According to theĀ Greater Cleveland Film Commission, the new Fast 8 movie is right at home with other blockbusters that have taken place in Cleveland such as ‘The Avengers’.

Fast 8 will be filming from May 18 through May 20 throughout various stretches downtown before taking a break to resume in early June. Although the new summer blockbuster is set in New York City, Cleveland will be hosting several iconic landmarks of the Big Apple.

 

Fast and Furious has grown into one of the most successful movie franchises in recent memory, a far cry from it’s street racing roots. Furious 7 crossed the $1 billion mark within a month of its release, showing the strength of the Fast and Furious franchise. The movie series has featured some of the most iconic street cars in memory, from the Fast and Furious Jetta to the legendary Toyota Supra.

Of course the actor that drove the orange Supra is the late Paul Walker, who will return in Fast 8 through digital trickery.

According to rumors surrounding Fast and Furious 8, Kurt Russell will be stepping in to play the ghost of the late start. Paul Walker tragically lost his life in a street racing accident, which led many Fast fans to wonder about the future of the movie franchise.

The rumors around Fast 8 will continue to fly until the movie premiersĀ on April 14th 2017. Until then we’ll all have to wait and see what the newest updates are to the Fast 8 movie series.
