It’s that time of the year again, and we aren’t the only ones gearing up for the SEMA auto show. Hyundai made a splash a year ago with over 5 new vehicles and project cars, and this year they’ve got a new Hyundai SEMA car.
Coined the Blood Type Racing Veloster, this amazing coupe boasts over 500 wheel horsepower and hails out of Chicago. Last year this same team build a Hyundai SEMA car that was a turbocharged 800 horsepower Genesis Coupe that turned plenty of heads. And if the build from a year ago was any indication of what’s ahead, the new Blood Type Veloster will most certainly impress.
According to the early spec sheets on this Hyundai, this Veloster features a fully built and blueprinted engine built from PRE custom rods and sleeves. A custom water / methanol injection system helps to keep things cool and the charge air condensed. Forced through a KMC fabrication intake manifold, the Garrett GTX3582R turbo helps generate 500 horsepower.
These horsepower numbers are achieved through the 1.6 liter Gamma four cylinder engine, and not the Lambda V6 as you might expect. Hyundai announced their V6 crate engine program 2 years ago at the SEMA auto show, and this is a surefire sign that the South Korean automaker means business in the performance arena.
The exterior mods on the latest Veloster for Hyundai SEMA show rounds out this build. With several widebody options from SoCal Garage Works as well as a custom front splitter and rear bumper lip from Sequence Garage, there’s lots to love about this Veloster. Seibon carbon fiber hood and a rear hatch cap either ends of this Hyundai, and it’s just part of the build.
At all four corners is one of our personal favorites, SSR Professors in 19 inch variety wrapped in Toyo Proxes R888 tires. The interior is rounded out with a roll cage and custom built interior, paired with a set of Sabelt bucket seats and harnesses.
