DC Sports has always been at the forefront of exhaust tuning for the sport compact market, and today they’ve released their newest addition to the Race Ceramic Header division with this addition of this header. The New Civic Race Header is the culmination of their engineering and high quality products.
This T409 stainless steel alloy header is coated by DC Sports using their own proprietary mixture of ceramic based coating. This coating is meant to combat the effects of corrosion and rust, and is thermally degreased and sandblasted before the coating procedure can commence.
The T409 mild steel is significantly different than the stainless T309 that DC Sports employs in their stainless header. This mild steel is a high ferrous metal that becomes stainless as DC adds chromium and nickel to the metal. As this can often times increase the surface rust that can collect on your header, DC takes their ceramic coating to the next level by providing a low cost high impact rust resistant finish.
Common New Civic Race Header Questions
Q: I bought a set of DC Ceramic Headers and they are rusting and the ceramic coating is peeling? Why?
A: You may have an older header or one from before August 2009 when DC Sports stopped using mild steel in their headers and instead upped the ante by upgrading to T304 steel. This newer style of mild steel has superior rust resistance and is a stronger base metal due to the high nickel and chromium content.
Some issues with rusting in regards to the old design header have arisen from certain customers, but we’ve seen drastic improvement in the quality of the new design so far. DC Sports has a unrelenting passion for quality craftsmanship, and their new line of headers really shows it.
CARB Legality – 50 State Legal
Q: Is this header legal for use on public roads and highways?
A: As this is DC Sports’ Race Header, this unit is approved for off-road use only and thus would not be legal for use on public roads. Please contact your local representation and branch of DMV to confirm the legal status of your modifications.
However most DC Sports headers are carb legal meaning there is zero hassle when it comes to law enforcement and the registration of our vehicles.
All non-race DC Sports headers have issued CARB numbers for use on public roads and highways and are found in our store unless they are ‘CARB pending’. These units may require up at least 60 days or more to obtain proper paperwork for CARB certification, and are not ‘guaranteed’ of being approved as such.
