We brought you coverage in the battle of lightweight rear wheel drive coupes that seem to have taken a firm hold of the automotive industry, manifested in the FR-S and BRZ Toyabaru twins, which has led many automobile manufacturers rumored to follow suit.
Which led everyone to be surprised by last week’s announcement from Honda that seemed to unveil their newest entry into the sport compact market by releasing the S660. While many had speculated at a later Tokyo Auto Show unveiling, Honda got the jump by releasing preliminary shots and information on their newest model, the S660.
What looks to be the successor to the Honda Beat, the name S660 relates to the kei-car (a vehicle restricted to a 600cc engine ) and Honda’s subsequent increase of 60cc bringing the total to 660cc.
While this midmounted rear wheel drive doesn’t have a ton of specs out on it yet, we sure hope it’s due stateside to give America some Honda love!
